Client - Union Bank of California
Assignment - Union Bank of California is an international financial organization with over 250 offices and 8,000 employees in California, Oregon, Washington, New York and throughout Asia. As part of its plan to re-engineer back office systems, the bank decided to replace its legacy HR and payroll computer systems. JAT was brought in to maintain the existing operations during the transition.
Challenge - During the bank-wide re-engineering project, several departments were restructured. This resulted in attrition of the technical staff to other departments, companies and new technologies.
Throughout this process, the bank needed a means to keep the old HRMS running while supporting the installation and customization of the new product.
Solution - JAT responded to the challenge with an experienced consultant perfectly matched to the bank's requirements.
In addition to keeping the HR and payroll systems fully operational, JAT was also able to run weekly payrolls, apply regular vendor-supplied maintenance, process year-end obligations in record time, as well as respond to new user requests for special reports. All this was accomplished with just one JAT resource rather than the three previously allocated.
During the migration process, JAT also wrote a series of
programs to move data from the legacy system to the new system.
Results - As a result of JAT's involvement, the bank was able to focus its energy on training its existing staff to use the new product. By allowing the internal staff to work on the newer, more exciting projects, employee turnover was drastically curtailed. Additionally, once the new software was installed, a seasoned and motivated team was ready and able to support it.
